I’m excited yet terrified to share that I have signed up to swim from England to France in a channel relay team in less than 4 weeks time.

Our team of 4 women and 2 men will be swimming 22.5 miles (approx 3.5 miles each) in the cold, dark currents amongst jellyfish and oil tankers making our way from England to France in 14-28 hours depending on how kind the sea is.

When I first got into a lake 6 weeks ago, I didn’t realise that I couldn’t swim very well. I struggled with front crawl and breathing under water. I’ve been training 4 times a week working on my technique, endurance and cold water acclimatisation.

I’m doing this challenge to raise funds and awareness for The Air Ambulance Service, a national lifesaving charity. Their critical care teams attend an average of 10 rescue missions a day delivering lifesaving care at road traffic collisions, industrial accidents and the transfer of critically ill babies.

I would love your support and have a target to smash which is the cost of each mission to help save a life at The Air Ambulance Service and support their critical work.

I’ll be documenting my training and the swim showing that we are CAPABLE of SO much more than we realise when we take ourselves out of our comfort zones and try something new.

This has been really challenging for me especially with the recent bad weather, currents & short training time. However, I’m determined to put in my shift with the rest of my team who are strong, experienced swimmers & I know will support me through this if needed.
