Story
Please Note: All proceeds go to the hospice as we are self funding the trip costs.
I am working as consultant General, Breast and Endocrine surgeon at George Eliot Hospital from 2009. I have been working in GEH from 1998 as specialty doctor and locum consultant surgeon from 2002. I am joining an intrepid group of people of all ages who has set out to trek to the base of Everest, the world’s highest mountain in the Himalayas at 5360 metres.
We are taking this very seriously and preparing for the trip by doing daily walking, swimming and trekking all the mountains in United kingdom eg; snowdon, yorkshire peaks, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis.
We will be raising funds to support the Mary Ann Evans
Hospice which provides much needed palliative and end of life services throughout Northern Warwickshire and beyond. Apart from this, the hospice provides lymphoedema service for breast cancer patients which is invaluable as lot of breast cancer patients are surviving after fighting the cancer.
Mary Ann Hospice needs your help to continue to support many
thousands of patients and their carers needing care and support through some of life’s most difficult times.
The Rapid Response Service, a new and innovative service,
which currently provides care within one hour to fully support patients and their carers overnight in their own homes in their last 72 hours is expanding to cover both night and day.
We can only continue to expand this vital service with additional funding. All funds raised will go direct to clinical services as all trekkers are self-funded, so please dig deep and help Mary Ann continue to make a difference.
Kind regards
