Students' Union UCL - we're the place where more happens

Story

Hey, our names are Jacopo, Rosa and Stefan and we are first year University College London students raising money for the Sickle Cell Society and PHAB, a charity creating opportunities for disabled children and young adults. We thought, what's the best way to raise funds for these charities than travelling to South Africa and snogging a lion without spending any money. This is a part of the global Jailbreak challenge, in which we are tasked with travelling as far as we can with empty wallets. Therefore, it is up to us to find a way to Johannesburg and a lion that wouldn't mind kissing us.

The money raised will NOT go towards the UCL Union or spent on our travel expenses,  all of your funds will proceed directly to the Sickle Cell Society and PHAB via the UCL Union.

Milestones:

£150- Minimal requirement to participate in Jailbreak

£300- 6 pick-up lines of your choice to strangers

£400 - Chugging the spiciest sauce we can find

£600 - Only eat certain colour food of your choice for the rest of the trip

£800 - Speak the local language for the rest of the trip

£1000 - A SECRET CHALLENGE

More on our charities:

  • PHAB supports children and young adults with disabilities to break down community barriers, reduce social isolation and create opportunities for disabled people to enjoy the same activities and challenges alongside those without a disability

Therefore your money will go towards:

  • Creating a helpline for people with sickle cell
  • Holidays for children with sickle cell
  • A get-away for 115 children and young people with disabilities with PHAB at Bendrigg Lodge in the Lake District
  • Building wheelchair accessible holiday homes
