We support ex-child soldiers to give them hope for the future

Story

HELP! BUNCE REQUEST!

For some unknown reason I am attempting The National Three Peaks Challenge over the Easter 2019 weekend.

This involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

The plan is to raise some money for the Russells charity by doing it.

This year Russells is raising money for Third Hope. Third Hope is a charity in Northern Uganda where ex-child soldiers can find a place to learn, train, heal and rediscover hope: hope for their future and hope for the restoration of their communities.

The centre is run by Rose-Mary McIntyre and her husband David, who bought 35 acres of bush land in this war-torn area, built a village-style residential home and planted a self-sustaining farm so that those who managed to escape and return would have somewhere to live, to heal and to rebuild their lives. These are deeply traumatised young men and women who have experienced unimaginable pain and violence. The centre has recently opened and 20 young ex child soldiers are taking part in the programme.

It costs approximately £1000 per year to sponsor each person on the programme.

Rose-Mary's pioneering programme is attracting international attention from other countries dealing with the humanitarian disaster of using children in conflict.

So any donations would be well received!

Don't forget the Gift Aid!

Thanks

Kit
