Tim Kite and his 3 sons are planning to scale Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, this October and at the same time raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust.
Shortly after completeing the Three Peaks Challenge a few years ago, Tim and Robert were looking for a new challenge. A chance remark from an old friend that he had been to the top of Kilimanjaro as part of his summer holiday and the target was identified - this time joined by Robert's brothers Daniel and Marcus. Standing on the top of Africa seems to appeal to everyone (except Mum!)
Having had personal experience of children's cancer wards with one of his boys and the already existing Derwent London link, Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) was an obvious and worthwhile charity to benefit from Tim's family's efforts!
All the money raised goes towards building and maintaining TCT units around the country. So far TCT has 9 units and plans to build a further 14. Each day 6 teenagers hear the words "you have cancer". TCT's aim is for each of those diagnosed to be treated on a TCT ward. On these wards teenagers can be teenagers, they can play playstation, surf the internet, have their mates stay over and of course continue with their education.
With your help and sponsorship TCT can continue the aim of treating all teenagers and young adults in the UK rather than just the 40% they are able to at the moment.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most effective way to sponsor "The Kites". Teenage Cancer Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax with be added to your gift at no extra cost to you.
