Kiting the Empty Quarter · 11 July 2014

Unseen is working towards a world without modern slavery and human trafficking. We support survivors to rebuild their lives with our safehouses and helpline, and tackle root causes by raising awareness and influencing legislation to assist those affected today and prevent future cases.

Story

Chris and George are making the first crossing of the Empty Quarter desert by wind power alone. In June, we'll travel 1100 km by kite buggy from Dubai to Salalah, unsupported across the world's largest sand desert.

Oh, and by the way, we've never even sat in a kite buggy before...

We sleep soundly every night knowing that the worst thing the morning will bring is work. However, thousands of people are victims of human trafficking: a horrendous industry that condemns them to slavery, even within the UK. We have decided to dedicate our expedition to Unseen UK - a charity committed to fighting human trafficking at all levels - in the hope that we can help to raise awareness.
