We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Kelly’s Kanter is a sponsored run/swim/mountain climb organised by staff at Sowerby Bridge High School.

Its aim is to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust and remember Kelly Johnson an ex-student and colleague who died in 2013 after losing her battle with Sarcoma.

Kelly worked at SBHS as a support Teacher. She was also an elite athlete who was supported by the TCT throughout her illness.

Staff will take part in either a 3 mile run, 9 mile run, Half-Marathon, Sprint Triathlon or a Full Triathlon. Other staff will be carrying out a sponsored swim or a climb up Mount Snowdon!

One colleague will be climbing Snowdon (highest mountain in England and Wales) on 3 consecutive days: Saturday 20th June, Sunday 21st June Monday 22nd June. Snowdon is 3560ft. The tourist path is 10 miles there and back. Doing it 3 times in a row equates to just short of climbing Everest from Base camp. And the average time is around 6 hrs round trip.

This is the fourth year and is particularly poignant this after the passing of Kelly Johnson in 2013.

Please support the staff by making a donation, however small. All your money will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust. Thanks for your support!
