Story
We have been very lucky over the past four years to have a defibrillator in Inverie, situated in the Display Room. This was kindly supplied to us by Ross Cowie of Lucky2BHere (www.lucky2Bhere.org) Ross had a heart attack on a shinty pitch on Skye, and his life was only saved because by good fortune an ambulance with a defibrillator on board happened to be driving past at the time. Since then, he has campaigned tirelessly to raise money for defibrillators, which are now situated in many remote areas across Skye and the Highlands.
Our defib is one of these machines. Ross came over with some guys from Heartstart Skye, and trained some members of the community in how to use the defib; they returned a couple of years later and did the same again. Knoydart has had this defib, worth over £1000, for four years for free. The battery has now expired, and Ross is sending us a new one. It costs £300. We have never raised a substantial amount of money for this facility, so I’m asking every member of the community to contribute something towards it. I've set the target at £1000, although the actual cost of the facility is higher, once you include training and batteries.
Thanks in advance for your contributions
