Ladies Wot Swim - round the Isle of Wight relay swim · 11 September 2014

Saving Lives Through Your Support. Each life-saving mission costs £3,500 and on average, we are called to at least five emergencies everyday. It is only thanks to the generosity of the communities that we serve that we are able keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our fundraising page.

We are a swim relay team who achieved our goal of attempting to swim round the Isle of Wight to raise funds for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

Our relay team is made up of four swimmers: Pauline, Kate, Ann and Heather plus Chris our incredible friend who should have been swimming with us but has just undergone some emergency major surgery. We are all seasoned open water swimmers and are under no illusion of how tough our challenge is. We have all swum sections of the island and realise the scale of what we are attempting to do. It is not only the distance that causes problems (approximately 56 miles as the crow flies which in reality will make this just short of an English channel crossing distance for each swimmer), but swimming at night, with jellyfish, at times against the ferocious tide and keeping warm in cold water will be tough.

We successfully did our swim on the 23/24th August in 24hrs, 7 mins and 45 secs.
