My name is Lakisha, I study Sociology at Kingston university and I am aspiring to be a social researcher. My course has shown me that all people experience life differently- but although experiences differ, quality of life should not. My motivation to volunteer is to help bring sustainable developments to disadvantaged communities and the people within it. During my course I have explored the harsh inequalities faced by young children in developing countries, for example, in terms of lack of education, financial resources and access to healthcare. However, knowing this with no action is not enough. 

I am travelling to East Africa for 3 months over the summer with ICS/Restless Development; the focus of this trip is to help my host community wherever possible. However before my departure, I must raise £800, in doing this, I will contribute to continually making this volunteer project free, so other passionate individuals can have the same opportunity to volunteer abroad as I have.
