Story
Hi everyone, thanks for taking time out to visit my page. I decided a few months ago to run in the BUPA Great Manchester Run scheduled for May because I felt a need to show my support for cancer research and support services for those living with cancer in the UK.
On a more personal note, I felt even more compelled to take on this challenge because my mother is battling terminal breast cancer and though she is receiving treatment and comfortable hospice care in Barbados, there are still millions in the UK who cannot afford to be as comfortable as my mom. This is my little way of giving back to the community and keeping my mother's condition as the main driving force for raising these funds for those who are less fortunate.
Everytime I talk to my mother on skype or on the telephone, she is always happy and smiling despite the seriousness of her condition. This is because she is positive and is fortunate to have the support of family and friends as well as a comfortable environment where she can relax and enjoy those precious moments as each day passes. On the other hand, there are those who are battling this fight alone and wish they spent their days in more comfortable surroundings or wish they had someone to talk to about what they are going through.
I would be more than grateful if you could help me contribute to cancer support services and research for a cure. No matter how big or small your contribution is, we can make a difference together and be proud about it.
Much love and blessings,
Lana
