Story
In late October I am taking part in a seven week expedition in Tanzania, with the sustainable development charity Raleigh International. The expedition will involve working with local communities to create long-term positive change, with a particular focus on sanitation and education.
Raleigh is a not-for-profit organisation, and relies heavily on charitable funding in order to send young volunteers like myself on these expeditions- around 30% of this comes from us volunteers- my task before the expedition is to fundraise £2550 for Raleigh.
In order to help reach this goal I have decided to do a sponsored walk.
Access to safe water is a huge issue in Tanzania, with many women walking 6 kilometres a day to bring back water for their community. In recognition of this, on September 13th I will be walking 60 kilometres.
In addition I am doing car boot sales, bag packing, working etc. I'd love to hear any other fundraising ideas..!
I am really excited about working with Raleigh! Once my gap year is over, I will be starting a degree in Global Development and Sustainability, so I feel this experience will be beneficial all round!
Thanks so much for reading.
Any donations/support will be hugely appreciated!
P.S. I will be keeping this page updated and mentioning any offline fundraising I'm doing in the updates section below.
