Laurie McClymont is raising money for WaterAid
Story
Running the London Marathon has been a dream for me for years and I'm delighted to be running it for WaterAid, which is a totally amazing charity.
Let me talk a little why I wanted to support WaterAid.
1 in 10 around the world still don’t have access to water close to home, that's 771 million people! Whole communities are held back simply because they don’t have access to clean water, something in the UK most of us take for granted.
And climate change is making it even harder for the world’s poorest people to get clean water. More frequent and extreme flooding is polluting fragile water sources; longer droughts are drying up springs.
Since 1981 and across 28 countries Water aid has helped:
- 28 million people with clean water
- 29 million people with decent toilets
- 26 million people with good hygine
