The Great Gorilla Run 2008 · 27 September 2008 ·

With just over 1000 mountain gorillas left in the world and 3 subspecies now critically endangered it is vital we do everything we can to save gorillas from extinction. We protect them from poachers, safeguard their forest home and improve livelihoods in local communities. Will you join us?

Story

Gorillas are pr-etty, pretty good... We share 98% of our DNA with them... they are non-violent herbivores and spend their time chilling, eating bamboo and leaves and are also intelligent creatures - they have been known to throw rocks to thwart predators, can be taught sign language and one gorilla was reported to have gauged the depth of a swamp with a stick before crossing it...
A hideously anecdotal attempt to convince you into sponsorship I admit, but still, not bad goin...

Unfortunately the mountain gorillas are at risk of 'rapid ecological extinction' - there are only 700 of them left... They are subjected to habitat destruction, poaching for bushmeat and most recently, Ebola virus outbreaks...

Your sponsorship would go towards conservation efforts for these marvellous animals, so please sponsor me for the Great Gorilla Run London 2008 on September 27th - running through the streets of central London in a gorilla suit... any donations would be most welcome...
