Why I’m Taking Part in the Kiltwalk
This year my family has been hit incredibly hard by cancer. My mum was diagnosed with neck cancer and has recently gone through the toughest journey of her life. She’s had robotic surgeries, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy — and while the treatment was extremely tough, it gave her the chance to fight back.
In the middle of Mum’s treatment, our family was dealt another devastating blow when my uncle was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Watching two people we love go through this has been heartbreaking.
But it’s also made me stop and really appreciate just how far medicine has come. The fact that my mum could receive such advanced treatment, and that my uncle will too, is only possible because of years of research, innovation, and support from charities like the Kiltwalk. These charities make recovery possible.
That’s why I’m walking the Kiltwalk—to raise money for Sir Chris Hoy’s Kiltwalk charity, which supports five outstanding cancer charities: Breast Cancer Now, Cancer Research UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, Maggie’s, and Prostate Cancer UK. These organisations are doing vital work—funding research, improving treatments, and offering compassionate care to families like mine.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any donation you can give. Every step we walk and every pound raised makes a difference.
