900 mile Tenor Horn & Cycling Fundraising Challenge
18 June - 3 July 2011
Steve Hanover has created a tenor horn and cycling fundraising challenge in memory of his sister Lynda who died two weeks after diagnosis with leukaemia.
Lynda was just three years of age when she died. Her death caused great sadness among the family and now younger brother Steve feels it’s time Lynda’s life had a more positive legacy. For Steve the ride is both a tribute to Lynda and a way of making a difference to two worthwhile causes.
Steve will cycle the 900 miles from Inverness to London via Edinburgh, York and Colchester. On each day of travel he will stop at least once to perform on his tenor horn, holding a concert to raise awareness of the Life of Lynda project and to encourage donations from the public.
By taking on this unique challenge Steve hopes to raise a minimum of £50,000 through the Life of Lynda project for The Salvation Army’s overseas health care and leukaemia research funded by Cancer Research UK. The donations via this JustGiving page will go towards The Salvation Army.
Steve explains: 'This project will be a time of reflection for me and my family, and draws on the interests and friends I have developed in my own life to enable others to benefit from the Life of Lynda'.
