Story
Lilly has autism. She is non verbal and has no sense of danger awareness. She is in need of constant supervision and requires high levels of stimulation.
I'm appealing to the public to help secure her a specialist buggy that will ensure her safety and well-being.
It can be
extremely difficult at times as Lilly has little understanding and doesn't
often play with toys. If she goes out she tries to run into busy roads. She has
no bonds or relationships, with friends or family members, and communicates
through gestures and emotions.
If she doesn’t like something she simply cries! It can be heart-breaking.
The buggy, together with an Autism Sensory Pack, will stimulate Lilly and develop her communication skills. Whilst the buggy will help Lilly and the family to enjoy the outdoors, the sensory pack, which contains a bubble tube, acrylic mirrors, bubble fish tube and fibre optic sideglow, will help her to understand cause and effect, which will enable her to make choices.
I have a medical condition that made me susceptible to blindness. After the birth of Lilly my eyesight deteriorated rapidly and I now rely on a guide dog, as I can only distinguish between light and dark.
It’s imperative that I know where Lilly is at all times. So if she’s playing with the sensory equipment, or safely secured in her buggy outside, I’ll know exactly where she is.
Lilly only sleeps for 3-5 hours within a 24 hour period. She also has a 12-year-old sister Amie, who has Asbergers, and a 7-year-old brother, Christopher, who is also blind. So if I don’t feel 100% it can be a strain! This equipment would make the long days more bearable.
Please help me raise the funds to provide Lilly with the specialist equipment she so desperately needs and deserves.
Thank you!
