I can't thank the staff of the gastroenterology team at Llandough hospital, Cardiff, enough, so fundraising for them via Cardiff and Vale health charity feels like a way I can make a small contribution. Plus I think running is brilliant therapy for IBD, so combining the two seems fitting - without the awesome care I've received, there's no way I'd be running! If you'd like to donate that would be brilliant!   

A bit more detail...

Prior to moving to Cardiff my treatment for crohn's disease was unfortunately not great, but since switching NHS trusts the difference has been huge. Patients with inflammatory bowel disease, or IBD, have access to IBD nurses who are at the end of a phone to advise with their expertise if you have a problem, and arrange for you to quickly receive tests or see a consultant if your issue is urgent and can't be resolved with telephone advice. The IBD nurses at Llandough hospital, Helen and Natalia, are incredibly dedicated, and have helped me countless of times, as well as the large and growing numbers of other patients on their case load. They also attend patient panel and volunteer meetings outside of their day jobs, such is their dedication to improving care and experience for people with the illness. I've had a hospital stay and all the consultants, nurses, cleaners, caterers and many other staff members who make a hospital run were brilliant too, treating patients with kindness and smiles (as well as medical interventions!) 

In short, I have a lot of great things to say about Cardiff and Vale health care, so I'm raising funds for the gastro team at Llandough hospital.
