Having walked the Shine for Cancer Research marathon last year & seeing so many people coming together to fight cancer I decided if I can power walk it I can run it! Luckily Race for Life are doing their first marathon this year & I'm doing it. I will be running a 5k & 2x 10k Race for Life runs in the coming months in preparation. 

My family has been deeply affected by cancer, last year losing my sister in law to breast cancer aged 47, leaving her 2 children & my brother simply devastated after 7 years & 2 remissions. Dad to lung cancer and numerous friends have suffered from this disease. All of us will be affected by cancer at some point in our lives, having cancer, cancer scares, loving & supporting someone with cancer or having to watch someone dying from cancer & having to say goodbye, often much too soon.  The impact it has on family & friends is immense and often is something that they will never get over.
