Sierra Leone Marathon 2013 · 26 May 2013 ·

Street Child's purpose is to see all children safe, in school and learning - especially in low-resource environments and emergencies. We work with an expanding network of local organisations for lasting impact in over 20 of the world’s toughest countries across sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and Europe.

Story

I'm doing half marathon in Sierra Leone on May 26. I'm not a natural runner and I certainly never ever thought I would do a half marathon. So it's been tough. And I rarely start out thinking 'I love running'. So ....

PLEASE DONATE A TENNER

I'm running for Street child of Sierra Leone, a small charity set up four years ago to help reconnect children to families and get them into formal education post civil war. There are 50,000 of them sleeping rough.

90% of the money you donate goes to the charity.

Once you donate here, the money directly to Street Child so I won't get my mitts on it.

The country is one of the poorest in the world - ranked 181 out of 187 (Ireland, by contrast is 7th richest)
