Talking helps!

The Samaritans answer 5,000,000 calls each year, that's one every 6 seconds, and provide compassionate non-judgemental listening to anyone who needs to talk.  Almost all the service is provided through donations and fundraising efforts.  There are nearly 21,000 volunteers, and you can call the Samaritans at any time of the day or night...that is an impressive commitment to supporting fellow human beings, albeit strangers, in distress. 

I'd like to raise money and awareness about mental health, and the importance of talking.  

I fly to Los Angeles on 30th December, with my bike, and return from Portland in February.  I'll be cycling the coast of California and Oregon, 1000 miles, in between!  I'll be talking to as many people as possible along the way, and also checking out the big trees, the Pacific ocean, San Francisco, organic agriculture and cob houses on the west coast.
