And so to the world..............
Sarah Outen (the first woman to row solo across the Indian Ocean) aims to journey right around the planet by land and sea, using a rowing boat, a bike and a kayak. "London to London: Via the World" will start on 1 April 2011 from Tower Bridge, London and finish back there in the autumn of 2013.
The 20,000 mile journey will take two and half years to complete and includes rowing solo across both the North Pacific and North Atlantic Oceans - a combination that has never before been attempted. Sarah will become the first woman to row solo across the North Pacific; the youngest person to row all of the world's major oceans; and only the third person to do so.
During the expedition, Sarah will be raising funds for WaterAid. WaterAid is an international non-governmental organisation whose mission it is to transform lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world's poorest communities. It was during Sarah's Indian Ocean Row in 2009 that she realised the absolute importance of fresh water to life and led her to support the essential work of WaterAid.
