On the 21st May 2015 four friends, Mark Sanders, James Sanders, Raul Ramirez and Dan Thompson, over four days, unsupported will cycle 285 miles from London to Paris to raise money for the British Heart Foundation in memory of Mark and James' Dad, Brian Sanders.
Brian passed away in September 2013 from heart failure. The last 10 years of Brian's life saw him have a triple heart bypass and a heart valve replacement, as well as surgery to prevent an Aortic Aneurism. Even though Brian suffered with his health in later years, he remained a fighter to the end.
There is never a good time to lose someone close to you, and it's even harder saying goodbye, but thanks to the Doctors, Surgeons, Nurse's and other hospital staff we managed to have 10 years with Brian that we may not have had otherwise. Nothing we can say or do can show how much it means to have been able to have this time with him but we wanted to do this bike ride to say thank you to everyone for their hard work and support that was given to Brian to ensure the many other people like him continue to receive the best possible care.
The British Heart Foundation is the nations heart charity and the largest fundraiser of cardiovascular research. Their work has been central to the discoveries of vital treatments that are helping to change the face of UK's fight against heart disease. Any donations will go on to help with pioneering heart research, vital prevention and survival activity and ensuring quality care and support for everyone living with heart disease.
We all thank you in advance for any donations you make for this cause as they will be the driving force behind the trip.
Mark, James, Raul, Dan
