London Landmarks Half Marathon 2018 · 25 March 2018 ·

The Running Charity delivers running & fitness programmes to homeless young people in the UK. Our life-changing work tackles the underlying issues that can compound homelessness by developing resilience, improving their mental health and kick starting their motivation and fitness.

Story

We are running the London Landmarks half marathon in support of The Running Charity (with one of us never having run a half before and the other returning from some time away from running). The Running Charity is one of Freshfields' pro bono clients and we would be very grateful for your support.

The Running Charity believes that running is as good for your mind as it is for your body. Running builds resilience and self-esteem, and they use this to improve the lives of 16-25 year-olds who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Homelessness can happen at any time and to anyone. And when it happens to a young person it can affect them for the rest of their life. The Running Charity uses running to improve fitness and instil a goal-setting mentality that are key tools in helping these vulnerable young people to build healthy, sustainable futures. They have been featured on BBC's Amazing Humans and stories on the London Marathon: Claude on BBC3’s Amazing Humans http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/clip/34c2ee80-d1bc-4975-a959-71bf433e8038 and Zamzam on BBC 1 as the London Marathon’s lead human interest story https://youtu.be/QZqanTucF28.

Thank you,

Richard and Akash
