London to Paris On A Bike! 2010 · 1 September 2010
We will be riding from London to Paris on a bike on September 1st-5th 2010. The trip will be over 5 days and will cover approximately 500km. Our group of 17 year olds will be riding to raise money for Loros Hospice.
November 2009, Harmesh Gangar had just completed his first half marathon for multiple sclerosis. He felt accomplished and fulfilled yet he was not satisfied - he wanted to do more. He wanted to do something big!
So he gave his childhood friend Kurren Sandhu a call and proposed the unthinkable. He wanted to ride from London to Paris on a bike! That's right...on a bike. Not a plane, not a train but a bike! Kurren Sandhu, being the weird fitness freak that he is, jumped at the opportunity and without hesitation said yes.
The team had 2 members, but something was missing. The 2 members needed 2 more accomplices to complete the Fantastic Four. Yogesh Morjaria, the budding basketball player, was approached about the idea. However being the pessimist that he is, he was reluctant and found the seemingly death defying ride impossible. He required a lot of persuading and after the influence of Harmesh and Kurren, he finally came round and realised that impossible is nothing.
Four's a party, three's a crowd so the team needed one more. They cried out for that missing factor that would complete the team. They cried out...and Richard Adiya replied. Richard Adiya, the talented athlete, aka Sanca from the memorable 'Cool Runnings' had joined the team.
The team was set and raring to go.
Footballer and marathon runner, Harmesh Gangar...
Basketball player and distance runner, Kurren Sandhu...
Basketball player and martial arts specialist, Yogesh Morjaria
and finally Bob-sleigher and athletic superstar, Richard Adiya.
