Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
As a survivor of Guillain-Barre Syndrome, I have more than an academic understanding of what it’s like to suddenly loose the ability to walk, talk, eat and breathe.
On Sunday 13th April 2008, I will be running the Flora London Marathon to celebrate my recovery, prove my health and most importantly to raise money to support other people affected by similar diseases and conditions.
My aim is to complete the 26.2 mile course (preferably ahead of Jimmy Saville, Jade Goody and the army of rhinos) and raise at least £ 2,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. They are the only UK charity focusing on all muscular dystrophies and allied disorders including GBS. You can read more about them here www.muscular-dystrophy.org or contact me direct if you would like more details about my own experience.
I will be holding some pre-marathon fundraising nights out and, for those that can’t resist a trip into town to see me sweat on the day, Adrian (my other half) will be coordinating voyeurs at the halfway point outside the Kings Arms on Tooley Street near Tower Bridge on the 13th April.
Chris East is in charge of teaching me to run and is proving to be an expert at training the inexperienced and incapable http://www.fit4all.uk.net/
I hope that you will take the opportunity to join in somehow and help to see me safely across the finish line!
