Lucy's Famous Five · 13 June 2010
In 2005 the shining star in our family disappeared when my beautiful fun filled cousin Cerys was diagnosed with a condition known as Arnold Chiari Malformation type 1 (ACM). This condition caused her to lose consciousness during her sleep which as you can imagine can cause life threatening problems.
With the help of The Ann Conroy Trust and the medical staff at Frenchay Hospital, Cerys was given a major operation to relieve most of the major symptoms of her condition. At the age of 5 she was presented with a massive challenge not only to recover, but lead a normal life and catch up with her peers.
Cerys is now 9 (and quickly approaching her 10th birthday) and I'm pleased to say has fought long and hard to regain a normal life and although with some visual problems she is back with her class in school and fully caught up on her educations...one massive achievement as you can imagine!!!
Without the amazing work of The Ann Conroy Trust, more people like Cerys that are affected by ACM and Syringomelia wouldn't stand so much of a chance fighting this condition and educating medical staff to find better treatments for the people they help.
ANYWAY...the reason you have read all of that is because I am asking you very very kindly to donate as much as you can to help this awesome cause while I put my body through 5 very demanding challenges both physically and mentally - Cerys is hoping "Luce doesn't run out juice"!!! Here is the famous five I will be attempting:
1. Bradley Stoke 10K - 13th June - COMPLETED - 55 mins 27 seconds
2. Summer Tough Guy aka "Nettlewarrior" - 25th July
3. Swansea Bay 10K - 26th September
4. Mens Health Survival of the Fittest - Cardiff Leg - 3rd October
5. Cardiff Half Marathon - 17th October
Training has already begun and I will be running these events with some amazing people to push me through - So thank you to Darren, Carly, Ross and everyone else who is helping me go for my target!!
So please donate whatever you can afford to help support this fantastic cause - The Ann Conroy Trust, Myself and most of all Cerys and our family are massively grateful for every single donation!!!
Thank you,
Lucy Ambrozejczyk
