Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We completed the swim! and have reached our target!
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and supported this event. It was a fantastic day.
Please feel free to donate if you haven't already. The page will be up for a while yet and just because we have hit our target doesn't mean that your donations will not be incredibly useful and appreciated.
*Pre Swim*
On Sunday 5th September 2010 Mark and I are going to swim the Solent. This is the stretch of sea between mainland England and the Isle of Wight. It would be great if you could support us by donating some money to the Alzheimer's Society - a cause very close to my heart.
A few years ago my Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at the young age of 55 and he and his wife are now living with the illness every day. It was a difficult time and I didn't deal with it very well. However last year I gave up drinking and the party lifestyle and it was around this time that Mark suggested we take up swimming. One year of training later we are ready to swap the comfortable Park Road Lido for the very deep, cold, salty and jellyfish infested sea!
We will start on the Isle of Wight and aim to arrive close to Hurst Castle on the south coast of mainland England at about 3pm. Please let us know if you would like to be there to see the last part of the swim and we can give you further details on the day.
This is with thanks to Clive Sparrow who is going to join us in his boat on the day to make sure we take the right route and stay safe.
Thank you all for your generous support.
