Story
I am running the Liverpool Half Marathon on Sunday 29 March. I've decided to raise money for the Alder Hey Imagine Appeal. Alder Hey is regarded as the largest children's hospital in Western Europe. There are 20 specialist services, which include bone marrow transplant, burns, cleft lip and palate, cancer, renal replacement and spinal injuries.
The hospital has a first class reputation for saving the lives of sick children and a proud history of medical achievement and clinical innovation. It is an international centre of excellence, treating more than 200,000 sick children a year, not just in the North West but throughout the UK.
I am specifically raising funds for the Oncology Unit, where my mum works as the unit manager. Any money raised is will directly benefit the children on the wards, whether it be for something small such as the purchase of games for entertainment or in the pooling of funds to buy the latest medical equipment which will save lives not just today but for many years to come.
