Great North Run 2015 · 13 September 2015 ·

EVERY 90 SECONDS someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury (ABI). There are many possible causes, such as a fall, a road traffic accident, an assault, a tumour or a stroke. A brain injury can happen to anyone, at any time. When it does, we're here to help

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Two years ago I attempted a half marathon and pushed myself far too hard and ended up in hospital. What this did, was uncovered a small problem with my heart which I have undergone regular screening for.  Jon, a good friend of mine recently had a previously unknown problem with a part of his brain, he was not so lucky and unfortunately, under very sad circumstances we lost him very suddenly at 35 years.  John had run the Great North Run with his twin brother Andrew numerous times and talking to Andrew, you could see how hard it was going to be for him to do this without his brother so I immediately offered to do it with him, an offer which was welcomed by Andrew.  Firstly I want to do it in memory of Jon, I want to do it for Andrew and for his family, secondly I'd like to raise money for Headway, the brain injury charity (and chosen charity by Jon's family) and finally, I still want to challenge myself, overcome previous set-backs and nail a half marathon.  This means a lot to me and I'm sure your generosity will mean a lot to many others.

I'm setting the bar very high for a fundraising because there is no way to lose, but I need all the help I can get to nail it.  Let's do it people #inmemoryofJon Please share my page, share my story, share my training and my journey.
