During Mum’s illness, she was cared for over long periods of time on the Somersham Ward at Ipswich Hospital in Suffolk, particularly in times of emergency. The work this charity does on the ward was hugely praised by Mum - they provide cooked breakfasts to cancer sufferers who are able to eat, Christmas presents, Easter presents, someone to talk to during the day, family support - the list is endless. Treats like these which fall outside of the standard NHS service are invaluable to patients who spend such a huge amount of time in hospital and who are often experiencing great suffering. Mum loved the work that they did and was keen to support them in any way she could.
