Story

WHO/WHAT/HOW

A team of 5 led by our captain, Alex, are running 170 ish miles in the Reebok Ragnar Relay on 21st September 2019. We're doing it for fun and an important cause - because we definitely aren't in it to win it.

We're an unlikely bunch of 'ultra' runners, all tipping the scales at over 80kg, with a couple of us dad bodding all the way up to 100kg.

Whilst we'll starting the run at a natural disadvantage, we're hoping a huge dose of naivety, a lot of foam rolling and a relentlessly positive attitude will help us run overnight from Sittingbounre to Brighton. 170+ miles in total, with each of us running over a marathon.

MOJU, the natural performance drinks brand (founded by Rich and his best mate Charlie) are supporting our run, through the recently created MOJU Adventure Club (MAC). An initiative that will be helping more people benefit from the challenge and fun of taking on their own adventures.

WHY

We believe everyone should have access to nature and be able to breathe healthy, clean air. With a huge proportion of the UK now living in urban environments, pollution and a lack of green spaces is having a big impact on peoples' health and happiness.

Nowhere is this more evident than in London's most deprived boroughs, including Tower Hamlets. A study by King's College found that children's lungs in the most polluted areas of the borough are 10% smaller than expected for their age. Not only children are affected, with 7.4% of all deaths in people over the age of 30, being caused by air pollution.

Monies raised from our run will be used by our charity partner, Trees for Cities, to plant healthy air and create more green space at one of London's most polluted schools in Poplar, East London. A project that MOJU is also supporting through their membership of 1% for the Planet and partnership with Trees for Cities.

For updates on the project (due to be completed in early 2020) you can sign up to MOJU's newsletter and follow their Instagram.

Thank you on behalf of Trees for Cities and a huge high five from the MAC // Ragnar White Cliffs 2019 crew.
