I'm doing TechBikers Paris-London: Support my 350km cycle for children's education! · 29 June 2018
Did you know that if every child received an education, 170 million people would be lifted out of poverty?
On the 29th of June, I will drop my laptop and jump on a bike for the first time on a 3 day 320km ride from Paris to London with 50 other Techbikers to raise money for Room to Read.
WHY AM I DOING IT?
I am taking up this challenge, as I believe that by supporting Room To Read we can actually make a change. I think kids deserve an equal opportunity, and education shouldn't be a privilege, but a basic right.
WHERE WILL THE DONATION GO?
All your donations will go straight to Room to Read, who have received the coveted Four Star Rating from Charity Navigator nine years in a row. Funds will be used to build schools or libraries in developing countries such as Nepal or Tanzania. Funds go where the need is greatest.
ABOUT ROOM TO READ:
Room to Read is an international non-profit transforming the lives of millions of children in low-income countries across Africa and Asia by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education.
Working in collaboration with local communities, partner organisations and governments, they develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children, and support girls to complete secondary school with the relevant life skills to succeed in school and beyond. In 2015 they reached their goal of impacting 10 million children. By 2020, Room to Read anticipate reaching 15 million children.
ABOUT TECHBIKERS:
TechBikers was born in 2012 from Google Campus in London as a means for the tech community to put down their laptops and pick up a bike to support charity, share ideas and spread the start-up vibe. To date TechBikers have ridden 960 km and donated over £170,000 to charity.
