At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Update 5th October - Our total funds raised now stands at £5,300. (this adds in the total on the other justgiving website which Matt and I set up before Matt’s accident to make it easier to add information. The total there stands at £4219) .

Our final fundraiser at St Catherine’s Club  in Didsbury on Saturday has raised a net £1,940 and, to quote one attendee, was a “fantastic success”. Cheesyweasel and The Modern World were both excellent, particularly as the latter had their new four strong horn section with them for the first time. The Bangladeshi Women’s Organisation’s food was extremely well received and the Lakeland ales sold out!

The raffle prizes were highly sought after, particularly the £500 worth of Lakeland vouchers and the meal for four at Loch Fyne  Both the signed United and City shirts in the auction were the subject of fierce bidding and went for £260 and £200 respectively.

Update: 21st September - arrived Paris on Saturday after 518 miles of perfect cycling - great weather, no punctures, lovely scenery and, for the London to Paris part - good company. I was cycling from Manchester to Paris to raise money for Alzheimer's Society.

Alzheimer's is the charity that my colleagues have voted to support and since launching my fundraising I know why: lots of friends and work mates have family members who are affected. Alzheimer's is leading the fight against dementia.

My colleague Matt and I have already raised over £3,000 through sponsorship and fundraisers we have held in Didsbury at The Fletcher Moss pub, The Third Eye Indian restaurant and The Albert Club.

Sadly, Matt had an accident when we were out training a couple of weeks ago and has broken bones in his arm. He now faces a fight to be fit in time for the ride.

Update 2nd Sept - my mate Dave has just paid face value as a contribution to the fundraising for my PNE season ticket for the two games I miss at Deepdale whilst I am cycling to Paris.
