Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.

In addition to my run 5, donate 5, and nominate 5 challenge in aid of NHS Covid-19 relief, I have set up this fundraiser to raise awareness and donations for Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

My charity of choice is the Moira Anderson Foundation (MAF).  

“The Moira Anderson Foundation, based in North Lanarkshire, Scotland was launched in the year 2000 by Sandra Brown as a legacy to Moira Anderson and her family. It provides a place of safety and support for children and adults who have been affected by Childhood Sexual Abuse.” - https://moiraanderson.org/about/

I have chosen this inspirational charity, as throughout my 4-years of voluntary 1-to-1 counselling towards others, a number of cases I have dealt with derive from a history of trauma, the most difficult being childhood trauma.

The founder of the charity, Sandra Brown, is a close family friend of ours.  The MAF is currently facing extreme hardship, as all of their forthcoming public fundraisers have ceased due to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.  As such, I have made it my mission to help her and her charity.

The MAF has helped countless people, including a number of individuals I have also referred to her service from my counselling.  Additionally, Sandra has informed me that the MAF are continuing their service via online platforms such as Skype amidst the current pandemic crisis.

Equally, as it is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, I feel this charity is best fitting.  I am extremely passionate about helping others, especially those who are facing significant struggle as a consequence of such depraved abuse.
