The Prince George Galitzine Memorial Library was set up in 1994 and is a legacy to a man who loved Russia and in particular St Petersburg. Located in the winter garden of the house that once belonged to his grand-mother, the library has become a place of peace and solitude for those seeking information on Russia that is not available in other city libraries.
Honoured by the city on several occasions, 2009 marks the library’s 15th Anniversary. It depends entirely on donations from individuals and costs are kept as low as possible. Do look at the web site www.galitzinelibrary.ru and visit if you are in St Petersburg. The staff there all speak English and love to show people around. It is located close to Nevsky right on the Fontanka River.
Your help will be most gratefully received. Thank you.
