Blacksticks Blue 10K · 8 May 2011
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Recently a family friend passed away after battling Motor Neurone Disease.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones. Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing.
The Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland that funds and promotes global research into the disease and provides support for people affected by MND. The Association was formed in 1979 by a group of volunteers who wanted to co-ordinate support, guidance and advice for people affected by the illness. It now has 3,000 volunteers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and 150-plus paid staff, all dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by MND, now and in the future.
On 8th May I will be taking part in the Inglewhite ‘Blacksticks Blue’ 10K road race, which will be my first competitive race, and I am using the opportunity to raise money for the MNDA.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
If you wish to donate but would prefer to sponsor me in person then this will be ok too.
If you feel you could sponsor me and make a contribution to support the MNDA this would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt
