Story
140.6 miles, split into 2.4 miles swimming, 112 miles cycling, and 26.2 miles running. It could take anything up to 17 hours, without stopping. It'll be tough, it'll hurt but it will still be nothing compared to what cancer sufferers and their families have been through. And so my wife, Helen and I are stepping up to complete this challenge for Cancer Research UK.
In October 2012, my sister Jenefer was diagnosed with breast cancer. Luckily she's out the other side now and has a lovely baby boy. There was a time when this just wouldn't have been the case, and it's thanks to the likes of Cancer Research UK that I still have my sister, and now a new nephew that 2 years ago, I never dreamt I would have.
Both myself and Helen have also lost others close to us through cancer over the years, or known people affected by it, and it's a cause close to both of us.
With their continued research, it can only be a matter of time before getting a cancer diagnosis won't be as terrifying as it currently is, and for this reason we are going to put ourselves through this ordeal of a triathlon to raise a bit of money.
So we would like to take this opportunity to ask you for a bit of support, however much you can spare, even if it's just a quid or so. And also to ask that any time you see us until the end of July, give us a bit of support and remind us why we're doing this. It's going to be a long road, with a lot of training, and any help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks for your support,
Matt & Helen
