Some of you may have heard this story before but I feel until we have fully removed the threat of Strep b I must continue to bang the drum. 05/05/05 Romilly Charlotte Wright was born and immediately we knew something was wrong. The labour was long and hard and I suspect worse for Hannah and the birth pretty tough..again Hannah had it bad as well although I was shattered. 

As Rom came into the world about 12 people arrived in the room which was the crash team. As we later found out this was due to the fact Romilly had contracted Strep B and was very poorly. After this she was kept in intensive care for nearly 2 weeks and was then released and was thankfully absolutely fine and is now a fantastic 12 year old. 

I had never heard of Strep B and phoned the helpline and thankfully this brilliant team of people at Group B Strep Support told me of the issues and helped me out. 

The amazing part of this is a test that costs £20 could have stopped the issue and many children are not as lucky as Rom and either die or are left with life altering injuries. We must change this and so I will try and drag myself around 26 miles to help...
