Story
We've set this page up in memory of our wonderful son, Matthew, who passed away in January 2014 after living with cancer for 14 of his nearly 17 years.
Matthew was a fun-loving, kind and caring young man. He enjoyed life to the full, embracing every opportunity at home, school and in his many activities. He achieved many things in his life, including S5 Dux at Elgin Academy only a few months before he died and was on the brink of going to medical school to train as a doctor. Many of his friends have said what an inspiration he was to them.
Matthew was involved in many activities and with many people in the community. He was in the local pantomime for the last 3 years, he played his cello in the Moray schools orchestra and he had volunteered at Anderson's Care Home. He especially enjoyed getting out and about, orienteering with the local Moravian Orienteers and taking part with enthusiasm in Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions in Speyside and the Cairngorms.
We, his family, miss Matthew so much every day. We'd like to thank you for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page which is in aid of Young Lives versus Cancer (formerly CLIC Sargent) who helped us so much over the years in many ways. We don't know how we would have coped without their Home-from-Home next to the Edinburgh Children's Hospital and without their understanding nurses and social workers. Thanks CLIC Sargent.
