As a result of long-term health conditions, more than 1 in 10 children in the UK can be denied a carefree childhood, and this number is growing. Our programmes empower children and families to explore new possibilities and rediscover the fun and magic of childhood.

Story

Hello everyone!

So, Astrid and I are cycling around Europe to raise money for the Over The Wall Gang Camp... This is a summer camp for children with cancer and other life shortening diseases, and it provides a wonderful oportunity for these children to meet each other, and to have the company of others who are in the same boat...

This year marks the charity's tenth anniversary, and ten years since I first went on the camp as a patient!

When I was in hospital, feeling pretty crap, it was difficult to imagine ever being better, and able to go out, feel healthy, and do amazing things.... so, hopefully this ride will be an inspiration to anyone who is currently in that situation; things doimprove, and you'll regain your fitness faster than you think!

Thanks for reading this, and please do donate...

Right, it looks like we have a route finalised:

From my family's farm in Normandy across France towards Frankfurt, then on over the Southern part of Germany and into the Czech Republic.

In Prague we will turn our noses South, traversing Slovakia to Hungary.

After Budapest we will ride the length of Slovenia, aiming for Venice and a quick swim.

Next, we shall cycle across the Northern part of Italy, along the Southern coast of France, hoping to arrive in the Rhone Valley in time to pick grapes!

I reckon at around 3 months for the whole thing... roughly 6500km.
