Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Last December my father, Stanley Buchalter, died after a long illness. As well as being a committed GP, he was a very keen hill walker and a generous supporter of many charities. A few months after his death, I was approached by the New Victoria Medical Foundation about a proposed climb of Kilimanjaro in to raise funds for their ongoing projects. The New Victoria Medical Foundation grew from a pre NHS private hospital with a strong charitable element into a pure medical charity. Its main area of support is for medical and mobility aids for disabled children and the elderly. It also provides bursaries for medical students having difficulty meeting their fees. Furthermore it provides medical treatment for carers on a private basis where the carer is no longer able to provide care due to illness and the NHS is being slow to help eg cataracts, hip replacements. The care is provided by private hospitals at cost and by doctors free of charge. This is a charity and a method of raising money (climbing a mountain) of which my father would have strongly approved. Indeed he would have been jealous not to be taking part. Up till his latter years he would probably have found the climb easier than I will. The climb will take place in early October. I will be responsible for all my expenses. Any money donated will go directly to the charity. I hope you will donate something to this very worthwhile charity in my father’s memory
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The New Victoria Medical Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
