Story
Hi..thanks for visiting my fundraising page =)
On November 15 2008 I will set off for farer shores on a 100km running challenge across Mexico in aid of Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND Association). The challenge will require completing 4 half marathons back-to-back over 4 days across the Yucatan Peninsula in temperatures +20°..crazy..but all for a good cause.
Last year saw the tragic loss of a friend and fellow runner David Rogers in the London Marathon. Dave completed the 26.2mile course in 3hrs 56mins but unfortunately collapsed due to hyponatraemia (drinking too much water) and died the following morning. Dave was a strong supporter of MND Association and has inspired me to continue fundraising for a charity he felt so passionately about. If you would like more information about Motor Neurone Disease and the challenge then please visit: http://www.mndassociation.org
I too was training for the London Marathon last year but fell ill weeks before hand. Inspired by Dave i've been training hard again this year and will be running the London Marathon on April 13 2008. I'm aiming for a new p.b. under 3hrs..so in order to get me quicker i'll be competing in several half marathons and similar races in the forthcoming months. I know this charity meant a lot to Dave and will make a big difference to so many others so please dig deep.
If you would like to monitor my progress and see pictures of my ugly mug in training, please visit my facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=8892761491&ref=mf
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: the Motor Neurone Disease Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please look down your sofas for those lost fivers and think twice when ordering that last pint or KFC on friday night and help a worthy cause.
HUGE thanks for all your support
There's only one David Rogers
