Our mission is to stop men dying by suicide and we believe death by suicide is preventable. Yet, in the UK suicide is still the single leading cause of death of men under 35. At James’ Place, we provide professional therapy for men in suicidal crisis to help them find hope for the future.

Story

Dear all,

Thank you so much for takin the time to visit my fundraising page. As you may or may not know I am taking part in a charity  boxing match on December 20. This is in aid of the James Wentworth-Stanley Memorial Fund (http://www.jwsmf.org/)  + more details below. Having just completed my psychiatric rotation, I can really appreciate the enormous impact depression (/suicide) has on the individual and their family and friends. I would struggle to think of a better cause for which to fight (literally). Here is an article written by James' mother: http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/families/article3294430.ece

At the moment I am boxing 3 times a week for two hours and running twice a week on top of my rugby and medicine commitments. Its pretty demanding but I really hope it will all be worthwhile.

Please please please give whatever you can. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The James Wentworth-Stanley Memorial Fund gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thanks so much for your time and money and I hope to see you at the fight!

x Max
