Story

Max Foster was first diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in January of 2015 at the age of 22 months.  At such a young age, he has to have five daily insulin injections and around six blood glucose tests per day.

Eve Smith was a previously healthy, happy seven year old when she was diagnosed with Type 1 less than a year ago. She had lost weight, was tired and extremely thirsty - all warning symptoms of diabetes. In addition to insulin injections via an insulin pump, she now needs countless finger prick tests before and after eating and when exercising, plus counting the carbohydrate content of everything she eats.

JDRF is a leading type 1 diabetes charity, that aims to improve the lives of those with type 1 diabetes until a cure is found. fund research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes.

Max's Mighty Men are taking part in the 10km Bear Grylls Survival Race on October 3rd 2015 to raise money for JDRF who support Max & Eve and others that are affected by type 1 diabetes.  Allowing them to carry on playing with friends, going to school and doing what any young person their age may do.

The rate of people affected by type 1 diabetes is increasing by four per cent annually, particularly in children under five.
