Our friend Kelly McGowan, known as "Kel" or "McFly Maven", received treatment, respect and kindness from the staff of Huddersfield Royal Infirmary Intensive Care Unit following a sudden and unexpected collapse on Sunday 19th February 2023. Sadly, a day later, on Monday 20th February 2023, Kelly passed away.

In her memory, we are raising money for the Intensive Care Unit so she can continue to help others; something she did throughout her life, especially in respect to her love of music.

Kel was a huge part of McFly and The Struts communities. You could bet she would be at any gig she could get to!

Kel was an avid fan of McFly from the beginning or as she would say “Yeah, I’m still a a McFly fan!”, proudly wearing her custom-made blue T-shirt. She was an integral part of the McFly community and would go out of her way for others.

Kel was also a loyal fan of The Struts, equally travelling to see the band at concerts she was able to get to.

Both bands, and their fans, knew Kel well. She was a familiar face at barriers and at book signings, TV performances or summer shows.

Kel would meet up with fans so no one felt they went to a gig or an event alone. She would record videos at gigs for the fans who couldn't attend and/or share them live; she was also an active part of the online groups; especially Discord. She would watch and share information on all TV appearances and performances, radio interviews and podcasts.

Her family, friends, and the communities of McFly and Struts supporters have suffered a huge loss.
But we know that others, at their greatest time of need, will benefit from the money raised in Kel's memory.
