Story

Greetings,

n.b. see footnotes added 24th April.

'Running' the Flora London marathon 06' was very memorable.  It is a fantastic event and i'd recomend it to you all.  The way i ended up sampling London's tarmac was a fluke.  A friends relative who was competing took ill, so on the friday i got a phone call...' bud, d'ya fancy running the London marathon sunday!!'

Obviously, having not trained and having no accomodation booked i agreed and met my 'friend' in London on the saturday, wisely getting bladdered and slowly sobering up during the 26.2 miles on the sunday, nice!

However, i'd got the fundraising bug and in the June i bizarely decided to cycle from John O Groats to Lands End, via the three peaks, totally unsupported.  I arrived some 16 days and 1053 miles later, absolutely humming!   Despite the strong aroma my body had developed i really enjoyed the challenge, raised over £2000 and met some great people on route.

Well once again im back on the scrounge!  Many of you will know my wife Kerry and that for three years now she has had a malignant brain tumour.  Despite the operation, the chemotherapy and radiotherapy that she has gone threw, let alone living with me, she has never complained.  She is an inspiration to me and many others.  Unfortunately after a spell of remission her tumour has returned, so once again, along with the chemotherapy, she again fights her battle against the terrible cancer.

No matter how much love and support i give Kez there is nothing more myself and many others in my position can do.  So if once again i get off me arse, will you and as many others as you can pester, sponsor me for as much or little as you can afford.  The only way people like Kez and many more can recieve better or quicker treatment is threw research and new practice that our funding enables.  So come on!

many, many thanks... Meach [Tony]

4th March 2007... Im just editing my page to inform you all that my wife, Kerry lost her battle against cancer, passing away peacefully with her loving  family on the morning of 4th March. Our lives will never be the same again but now we all must show the courage Kez showed and try to carry on, together. x

24th April 2007...That's that done then! This marathon wasn't about achievement, if that's how ya spell it. Nor target times. This was solely about raising as much money as pos within the time frame set, for Brain Tumour U.K. and in memory of Kez. Im sure everyone connected with the charity gave their all sunday and hopefully, collectively, the monies raised will help others in the future. I'd hate anyone to go through what myself and kerry's family...Andy and Lynne, Trina,Paul,Sam and Joe are now. We will get through cuz we all share kez' love and that love extends to every single one of you who sponsored me. You are all top people and you wont be forgotten. Thankyou all so much. Meach xx

p.s. The web page doesn't close til 22nd June, so if ya see someone about to waste some money, let's say on an West Brom ticket tell em' not to do it...give it to meach an kez!!

p.p.s 4 hours 33 mins... bit 'hattish' but for obvious reasons ie no fizz since Jan!!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Brain Tumour U.K. will recieve your money faster and, if you are a U.K. taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your give at no extra cost.

Thankyou very much

Anthony Meacham
