Med Steps 5 Challenge · 18 May 2019

Cancer Relief Gibraltar has been providing support to people living with cancer in the community for over 40 years. At the Cancer Relief Centre, we understand what you are going through and we can help. All our services are free and are aimed at helping you and your family live life to the full.

Story

GBC will be forming a team and taking part in this year's Med Steps 5 Challenge to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the event and raise as much money as possible for the Gibraltar Society of Cancer Relief.

The now traditional event has been raising fantastic amounts of money for families affected by cancer here on the Rock for the last few years, with a remarkable £24,000 fundraised last year. We're fully behind helping the Med Steps team surpass that total to make their 5th year even more memorable!

We'll be swapping our microphones for our running shoes and training in the lead up to the event to make sure we're not embarrassed (well completely embarrassed anyway) and every little we can add to that charitable total would be amazing. Please help us help cancer relief and donate to aid the worthy cause... every little helps!

Taking part for Team GBC will be:

Jonathan Scott (AKA Mr Viewpoint, will he go up the Med Steps in his suit? Somehow I doubt it, but you can never really know with this man)

Melanie Chipolina (Our resident Sports Reporter... If anyone could handstand her way to the top its Mel... I dont think she'll do it (she's modest like that), but i bet she could)

Robin Sheppard Capurro (He's often been seen roaming the Med Steps in his underwear, can do this in his sleep, fittest man in his bedroom)

Iain Triay Clarence (It will be tough to pry him away from the Newswatch desk even on a Saturday morning, but there is nothing this man won't do for charity, don't be alarmed by his bright pink tie though)

Christine Vasquez (From the flute to the fiddle, is there an instrument Christine can't play? No one will be surprised to see her bring out her violin once reaching the top of the Med Steps)

Meritxell Farrell-Roberts (The youngest member of the team and we're hoping she'll be able to carry any potential stragglers to the top if needed. We've yet to ask her if this would be ok, but remain optimistic)

Lucinda Snape (No relation to Severus, but one thing's for sure, she'll be casting a spell on those she leaves in her wake on the way up)

Katy Docker (Docker has a Shocker... is a Chronicle headline we're confident we won't be reading come the Monday following the challenge)

Mark Clancy (His namesake is famous for novels such as 'The Sum of All Fears' and 'The Hunt for Red October', but will Mark's journey to the top prove to be as thrilling!? It's probably in everyone's best interests if it wasn't...)

Stefan Borge (Yes i have just written these shocking write ups for everyone, don't think any less of me than you already do. Thanks)
