Mednet Haworth Walk · 23 May 2014

Lewy body dementia is the second most common cause of age-related dementia, affecting around 130,000 people in the UK. We raise awareness of the disease, provide information to patients and carers, and fund research so that in future it can be more easily diagnosed and treated.

Story

Mednet are raising money for The Lewy Body Society for the second year running.

All proceeds of the walk will go to The Lewy Body Society. Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), also known as Lewy body disease, is the second most frequent cause of age-related neurodegenerative dementia. There are presently over 700,000 people with dementia in the UK and this number is projected to rise to 1,000,000 by 2021 unless cures are found.

The walk will encompass a long and challenging route through Haworth and Hebden Bridge, with parts going over remote moorland in an uphill environment.
