Milly's Smiles provides a Holdall Bag, known as a Milly Bag for all children who have been newly diagnosed with a cancer related illness, and admitted into hospital. The bag contains lots of essential and luxury items that will help them through the first frightening weeks of their journey.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. It was inspired by Megan who is now 10. Last summer (August 2016), we had a reunion of old friends - 14 kids and 13 adults... Megan was rushing about with the rest of the kids. The following month her hip hurt when camping, and by January this year she had been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer. With her younger brother Alex and her mum and dad, they have been a force to reckon with. Megan's hair has all fallen out, she has been in a wheel chair and had chemo, radio and endless tests and times in hospital but throughout it all, they have been extraordinarily brave and put a smile on. They have even found time between treatments to raise money for Milly's Smiles and I want to help them. I also want to give Megan a boost. This little girl humbles me, she has brought tears to my eyes so often, she is an absolute trooper, even performing in school concerts in between treatments. You, Megan, are a superstar.

I want to raise enough money for at least 10 bags from Milly's Smiles. These bags help in a time of complete bewilderment for families of children with cancer. 1 bag per mile! These bags cost £90 each and they are given out to each family that are admitted onto Ward 84 for the first time when their child has been diagnosed with a cancer related illness.

The bags are high quality and contain a blanket, neck pillow, water bottle, hot thermal cup, bath towel, toilettries, notepad and plastic file, and a thermometer. Milly's Smiles have given out 95 bags over an 11 month period and the ward estimate between 100-150 new families admitted each year.
